APRIL FOOD DAY

In the world of design blogs, it's not all about celebrating beautiful things – it's also about beautiful ideas and thoughts, and a positive and generous spirit.

Perhaps you've been reading headlines such as these from salon.com ... "America's Food Banks need a bailout."

"Now middle-class families who were in retail jobs, construction, the real estate industry ... are finding themselves in our (food bank) lines."

A couple of kind-hearted bloggers – Meg, at Pigtown Design and Chris, at Easy and Elegant Life – decided to take action. They collaborated on ideas for putting the power of the internet to good use and helping those in need. Thus was born the concept:

On April 1, Meg and Chris are asking everyone - fellow bloggers and readers alike - to make a contribution to food banks.

Head on over to the website, April Food Day, to find out all the details. There are direct links to food bank websites, where it is as easy as a mouse-click to donate whatever you can, from $1 on up. And making your donation on April 1 will make a statement of awareness, solidarity, and support.

While you're at it, stop by Pigtown Design and Easy and Elegant Life, and let Meg and Chris know their efforts are appreciated. A lot of work went into this endeavor - from concept to creation of the website, to getting the word out to the online world.

See you on April 1, over at April Food Day!

It's my today's post as well, and I'm truly grateful for people who put energy toward increasing life for others.
