Nick Cave has reportedly been making Soundsuits for 15 years.
So named for the sounds made when the sculptures are worn, the works reflect Cave's diverse background and cultural references.
Cave has studied and danced with Alvin Ailey, created his own clothing line, and studied fiber arts at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He is currently Associate Professor and Chairman of the Fashion Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.You have until Feb. 7 to see (and hear) Recent Soundsuits, a solo exhibition at Jack Shainman Gallery.
