I don't know about you, but I get many ideas while dreaming or when I'm in that in-between twilight state. And, I recently read here that a good night's sleep can even help prolong life!
So, in the interest of scheming up some grand life-changing ideas or simply living a longer, healthier life, perhaps we should start making our bedrooms a priority in our home decorating plans.

Essentially a minimalist space, the drama of a supersize photomural takes this bedroom into the realm of theater. The image – what appears to be Roman soldiers and Mercury racing around on horses in a coliseum – may not be the most relaxing, but perhaps it would encourage a fast start in the mornings! Dare to be different, and float your bed in the center of the room. You really can't miss when it's an 18th c iron bed draped in white linen, in a Paris apartment. I'm intrigued by the mysterious flush doors on the back wall - are those window shutters?Photo from Marie Claire Maison.

These are all gorgeous... been thinking the same thing about my own bedroom lately- definitely in need of some glamorization. Thanks for sharing these images.. lots of inspiring ideas!!!
These are really wonderful bedrooms - thank you for including my bed, I certainly am in the best of company. xv
such gorgeous images! the one with the drape that isn't credited is Jose Solis Betancourt - a former protege of Saladino. He's fabulous and that house the bedroom is in is absolutely wonderful!
Fabulous Post!! Love the "controlled chaos" comment...that's what my bedroom resembles.
Wow. We hung insulation today...leave it to you to make it seem glamorous and gorgeous!
And I loooove the orange!
Thanks everyone!
Vicki - your bedroom (as well as the rest of your house) is wonderful!
Joni - thanks for the designer credit on that image. (That's why I quit tearing out magazine pages – I lose the info!) I thought that house was in Calif., but couldn't be sure, since it looks like a rustic French farmhouse.

So many beautiful images, many of which I have never seen!
After living with no headboard for over 15 years (I could never find one I liked), I finally had one custom made last fall. It totally transformed the look of my bedroom, and has caused a ripple effect of other changes. I moved out the old dresser that was 'starter' furniture for my in-laws and replaced it with a beautiful painted gray chest, and bought a great mirror to go over the chest. I have also put in an order for a new bench for the end of the bed and side tables from a British company that makes nice pieces that look old. I can't wait for them to arrive!
Now, even my husband is saying that we need new linens to finish things off. If you knew him, you would know that for him to suggest a decor related purchase is nothing short of amazing!
Great post...inspires me to do something wonderful in my own bedroom...Fay
I would be happy to dream in any of those spots~

Delightful! And you are so right, the private spaces are so often neglected. I know ours are in need of finalizing. St. Valentine's Day brought a new Frette duvet cover and shams to our bedroom. It's a start. But now I have to find a comforter to fit the cover! Does anyone know who makes a true Queen sized down comforter?)
And yes, I believe those are windows behind the iron bed in the Marie Claire Maison photo.
I think I need TTI's drive!
Thanks E&EL! As for the down comforter, do you mean something other than the vague Q/K sizing? Try www.cuddledown.com. I've never ordered from them but just got a catalog. They have individually sized down comforters and give the dimensions of ea.
Frette linens - now that's a great Valentine's Day gift!

oh my goodness - i'm on inspiration overload! that bed from Lou Marotta has always been one of my favorites, but many of these i haven't seen in a while or had completely forgotten about. thank you for such a gorgeous post!!
C&K - thanks. That bed is sensational isn't it? And very clever, making a settee into a bed and bench.
