More from the tour

This home belongs to Jeff Avery & Harvey Petty, owners of my favorite shop in town, Magnolia. See my Shop Tour and interview with Jeff here.

Jeff and Harvey's house seemed to be very popular with tour goers. It was a bit tricky shooting photos around all the people.

The bead-dripping chandelier in the dining room is from Magnolia, and the paintings are by the late artist Billie Hightower. Did you notice that this table is left bare with no tablecloth or placemats? I've seen this done in many magazine photos – I think to show off the table. Do you ever do this at home when you entertain, or do you always use a tablecloth or place mats? Oh, and here are more white pumpkins. I like the way Jeff and Harvey used a large one for the centerpiece and small ones at each place setting. For past Thanksgiving dinners at my home, I have placed tiny pumpkins on each plate to hold place cards. Tim has the prettiest handwriting in our house, so he usually gets to write out the names.

One of my favorite spaces in the house, this is an old porch enclosure. I believe it is used as the TV room.

I love the thrown-together look of seemingly mismatched pieces of furniture, that makes for a comfortable and casual room.

A very masculine kitchen, this one has dark wood cabinets and granite counters.

The large art-deco inspired light fixtures are quite dramatic. Unfortunately, the details are blown out (from my lack of camera skills). Jeff and Harvey like to make arrangements of flowers and greens from the garden, and fill the vases with fruit.

Oops, I think these ladies were caught in the act ... they appear to be opening a cabinet door for a peek. I especially like the way the microwave oven has been tucked into a shelf of the island, next to the cookbooks.

Isn't this a great pantry? No canned goods here, it's a great place to store vases and oversize platters and trays. The charming etched glass paneled door that says "Pantry" makes it special. And, for a nice decorative surprise inside, the wood floor is painted.

The sitting area off the kitchen is quite traditional, yet filled with nice art and pottery. The painting over the fireplace looks like another painting by Billie Hightower.

The long, narrow table on the screen porch seems custom-made for the space. Again, no tablecloth or place mats on the table.

In this view, you can see the doors leading to the sitting area inside and the old Shell sign used for wall art.

The wraparound screen porch looks out onto this small but charming garden. Reclaimed bricks and an old stone trough used as a water feature lend a rustic and timeless feel to the space.

Begonias, white petunias and baby's tears.

Love that vibant red of the french garden chair! The color really pops against the earthy palette of the landscape.

The brick path leads out to the garden gate at the front of the house. Soothing sounds from the old fountain (to the left of the gate) add to the ambiance.

Up next, some neighborhood scenes.

Patricia - they have done such a great job renovating the house, especially the kitchen.

Vicki - I think the shell sign is a reference to the beach - while maintaining the masculine feel of the rest of the house.

where, oh where did you/they find the long narrow table on the screen porch? It looks exactly like what I've been looking for...
